Thirty years after a zombie outbreak, people have started taming and using the zombies as cheap workforce. The young couple, Katrine and Mark, struggle with the tidies everyday life of dirty zombie catching, bloody lobotomy experiments and a relationship on the verge of falling apart.

Josef Dabernig was born 1956 in Kötschach-Mauthen, Austria. He is a visual artist and graduated in sculpture in 1981. Dabernig has made films since 1994 and is based in Vienna.Recent solo exhibitions at P74 Center and Gallery, Ljubljana (2011), Wilfried Lentz, Rotterdam (2011), Galerie Andreas Huber, Vienna (2011) and MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art, Vienna (2010).

Ruben was born in 1974 on the small island of Styrsö on the Swedish West Coast. In 2004,

he made his feature debut with the controversial fiction film THE GUITAR MONGOLOID, which won the FIPRESCI Award at the Moscow International Film Festival 2005. Daniel Joseph Borgman, born 1981 in Dunedin, New Zealand. After studying Film Science at Otago University, he moved to Copenhagen and worked as a VFX artist and colourist. His first short THE MAN & THE ALBATROSS (2008) premiered in the Leopards of Tomorrow competition at the Locarno Film Festival. BERIK (2010) won the Grand Prix in Cannes’ Semaine de la Critique.

Synopsis

Berik, a short drama about friendship and understanding, takes place in Semey, Kazakhstan. Berik, 33, blind and deformed due to radiation poisoning, spends his days at home alone, while his brother is at work. That is until Adil, 11, the smallest and least popular of the kids in the apartment block, turns up on Berik's doorstep looking for the local bully’s football, which he has lost.

Kote Camacho born in  Oiartzun, 1980. A graduate in Fine Arts by the University of the Basque Country, Kote Camacho has been a comic scriptwriter and artist for Napartheid. He has been a storyboard artist (Caótica Ana by Julio Medem; 28 Weeks Later by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo), traditional and 3D animator and he has also worked in post production.

Rufus Norris is an award-winning British theatre director who trained as an actor at RADA before turning to directing. In 2001 he won the Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Newcomer for his production of Afore Night Came at the Young Vic. In 2004, Norris won another Evening Standard Award, a Critic's Circle Award and an Olivier Award nomination for Best Director, for his production of Festen. In 2009, Norris' first film King Bastard was produced by BBC Films. Born in 1966 in Teheran, Ali Mosaffa is a graduate of Civil Engineering from Tehran University and he started his film career an actor in early 90s, earning praise for his work in a loose adaptation of J. D. Salinger’s Franny and Zooey entitledPari (1994, dir. DariushMehrjui); for this performance he took Best Supporting Actor at the 13th Fajr International Film Festival). In 1991 he began making short films, including Incubus (1991), Rush (1993), The Deceit of Poesy (1996) and The Neighbour (1999; Best Experimental Film at the Iranian short film fest). The Last Step is his second feature film, screened at Tehran’s Fajr Film Festival in February 2012 and received the best script award.

Emin Alper born in 1974, Konya (Turkey), holds a PhD in modern Turkish history from Boğazici University in Istanbul. He became passionate about film during his time at college, however, unfavorable conditions in the profession prevented him from pursuing his career any earlier. He gained experience during his studies as an actor in short films by fellow colleagues, Apartment (Apartman, 2004) and Crash(Carpisma, 2005), and subsequently as a director himself with the short films Rifat(2006) and The Letter (2005). He is currently lecturing in the Humanities and Social Sciences Dept. of Istanbul Technical University. Beyond the Hill (2012) is his feature film debut; the film was premiered in Berlin, where Alper was awarded two prizes (Caligari Film Award for Best Film in the Forum section, and a Special Mention for Best First Feature).

Synopsis

This striking debut by Turkish director Emin Alper is set in an isolated valley in rural Turkey, where a man comes to visit his father, a herdsman, accompanied by his two children. The serene summer’s day, however, is gradually disrupted by the proximity of uninvited guests from beyond the hills, who come to graze their goats on this particular piece of land. The sense of threat slowly builds up, with each side intent on defending their territory. This visually exquisite film, in many ways reminiscent of the work of another successful Turkish filmmaker, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, manages to create a singular atmosphere while, at the same time, drawing attention to the paradoxes of the situations and instilling them with gentle irony.  The film may be seen not only as a parable about the contemporary Turkish political scene, but also as a testimony of the nature of human society in general. Co-producer Seyfi Teoman, himself an excellent director, tragically died in May of this year.

Peeter Simm is a seasoned professional with a knack of involving audience. One of his early films Arabella – Pirate’s Daughter got a staggering 9,2 million cinema admissions in the former Soviet Union. Simm is graduate cum claude from Director’s course at Moscow Film Institute (VGIK) 1976, studied under the supervision of professor A. Stolper. He’s made 11 feature films and 12 documentaries, he’s also directed theatre.

Martin Lund born in 1979, studied art direction at Westerdals School of Communication in Oslo before being accepted into the directing program at the Norwegian Film School at Lillehammer; he graduated in 2008 with the short filmBalloon Moods. Four years previously, however, he toured a number of festivals with Home Game (Hjemmekamp, 2004), including Clermont-Ferrand and Sundance. In addition to other short films (Shall We Dance?, 2007, and Pistachio, 2009), he is a multiple award-winning director of commercials. His feature debutTwigson Ties the Knot (2010) is part of an enormously successful Norwegian film franchise.

Despite the approaching birth of his first child, plain-looking, 30-something Henrik does everything he can to maintain the illusion of youth by following its unbridled conventions. He also enjoys a fair amount of adolescent wisecracking, but this doesn’t seem to bother his partner. Yet when kindhearted Tone organizes a pleasant evening party for friends and colleagues in their newly acquired home, Henrik takes off, preferring his high school buddies, who share his fondness for wild piss-ups and crude humor. His inept behavior, however, masks an insecure individual who escapes the surrounding world through irony. Sergei Loznitsa was born in 1964 inBaranovichi, Belarus. He grew up in Kiev, where he took a degree from the local Polytechnic Institute. For many years he has been interested in the development of artificial intelligence. He graduated from Moscow’s VGIK in 1997, and began producing his own documentaries in St. Petersburg, includingPortrait (Portret, 2002), which won a Special Jury Mention at KVIFF 2003. Artel(2006) took Best Documentary under 30 Minutes at the 2007 Karlovy Vary festival. His other films have been awarded at festivals in Oberhausen, Leipzig, and Kraków, and they are regularly presented at Karlovy Vary. Loznitsa has lived in Germany since 2001. My Joy (Schastyemoe, 2010), screened in the Open Eyes section at KVIFF 2010, is the director’s feature debut, and was selected to compete at Cannes. His latest film, In the Fog, also competed for the Palme d’Or.

Synopsis

Western frontiers of the USSR, 1942. The region is under German occupation, and local partisans are fighting a brutal resistance campaign.

A train is derailed not far from the village, where Sushenya, a rail worker, lives with his family. Innocent Sushenya is arrested with a group of saboteurs, but the German officer makes a decision not to hang him with the others and sets him free. Rumours of Sushenya’s treason spread quickly, and partisans Burov and Voitik arrive from the forest to get revenge.

As the partisans lead their victim through the forest, they are ambushed, and Sushenya finds himself one-to-one with his wounded enemy.

Deep in an ancient forest, where there are neither friends nor enemies, and where the line between treason and heroism disappears, Sushenya is forced to make a moral choice under immoral circumstances.

Biography

Eva Neymann was born in 1974, Zaporozhye, Ukraine. She graduated in law from Philipps-Universität in Marburg, Germany, and in film direction from the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin). After the successful short Friereein, taue auf (2001), she shot a number of documentaries that screened at many international film festivals (Allen beimalten, 2004, Das Meer sehen, 2005, WegeGottes, 2007). In 2007 she debuted in features with At the River (U reki), which premiered internationally at the Rotterdam IFF. House with a Turret is her second feature film.

Synopsis

An eight-year-old boy and his ill mother are traveling by train to his grandfather’s house. On the way, however, the mother’s health takes a critical turn for the worse, and they are forced to abandon the train in a nameless town where the mother is admitted to a hospital. The plot of this small-scale wartime drama unfolds in Soviet Russia over the course of a winter’s day. Through the boy’s eyes, we witness the state of a society exhausted by the interminable war and persistent food shortages, benumbed by ever-present death, and indifferent to the suffering of others. The picture was based on motifs drawn from the autobiographical story of the same name by writer and screenwriter Friedrich Gorenstein, who also penned the script for Tarkovsky’s Solaris.

VINCENT PARONNAUD

Born in 1970, Winshluss is the creator of numerous comics and graphic novels that have garnered awards and acclaim across Europe. Winshluss is the pen name of Vincent Parronnaud, perhaps best known as co-director of the animated film Persepolis (with MarjaneSatrapi), which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for numerous awards, including the Academy Award, Golden Globe and Cannes’ Palm d’Or. He and Satrapi are teaming up again to adapt Satrapi’s 2006 book "Chicken with Plums.” 

MARJANE SATRAP

MarjaneSatrapi an Iranian-born French contemporary graphic novellist, illustrator, animated film director, and children’s book author.In 1983, at the age of 14 Satrapi was sent to Vienna, Austria by her parents in order to flee the Iranian regime. There she attended the LycéeFrançais de Vienne. According to her autobiographical graphic novel, Persepolis, she stayed in Vienna through her high school years, staying in friends’ homes, but spent three months living on the streets. After an almost deadly bout of pneumonia, she returned to Iran. She studied Visual Communication, eventually obtaining a Master’s Degree from Islamic Azad University in Tehran.

Agnieszka Holland was born 28 of November 1948 in Warsaw. Film director and scriptwriter. Having graduated from FAMU, the Prague film school in 1971, Agnieszka Holland returned to Poland. She began her film career working with Krzysztof Zanussi as assistant director, and Andrzej Wajda as her mentor. Her TV film debut was Evening at Abdon's (1975) and her first feature film was Provincial Actors (1978), one of the flagship pictures of the "cinema of moral disquiet" and the winner of the International Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1980. In 1981, Holland decided to emigrate to France. Her Europa Europa (1990) received an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay (Golden Globe and New York Film Critics Circle winner). Holland had also received an Academy Award nomination in 1985 for Best Foreign Language Film for Angry Harvest (1985). She also collaborated with her friend, Krzysztof Kieslowski, on the screenplay of Blue, the first film of his trilogy, Three Colours (1993).

Synopsis

In Darkness tells the true story of Leopold Socha, a sewer worker and petty thief in Nazi-occupied Lvov, Poland. Stumbling upon a group of Jews in the sewers, he agrees to hide them for a price. What starts out as a straightforward business arrangement becomes something unexpected, as they all try to outwit certain death during 14 months of intense danger.

SYNOPSIS

The film recounts the dramatic events that take place at a beauty contest involving ten mothers, five of whom belong to the poorest sections of society. The mothers are desperately trying to win a beauty contest which main prize is an apartment and $25,000. Dreams are quick to vanish as realization dawns that the competition is a complete farce. The media and organizers of the show are exploiting the misfortunes of the participants: Georgian women, the Abkhazian war and patriotism are all themes constituting a ploy to create entertainment for the audience, ending up causing a massive fight among participants.

BIOGRAPHY

Rusudan Chkonia (Tbilisi, Georgia, 1978) graduated from film directing studies in 2001. That same year, she directed Bediani - Lucky Village and Children Without a Name - her diploma film, which earned her numerous prizes. The following year, she followed with Spring and Land of Promise. Between 2005 and 2006, Chkonia took part in Berlinale´s Talent Campus. In 2007, she was invited to The Résidence at Cannes´ Cinéfondation foundation. After receiving a number of scholarships and taking on several projects, in 2012, she produced, wrote and directed Keep Smiling.

ÖzcanAlper  born 1975 (Hopa, Artvin, Turkey). He studied Physics and History of Science at Istanbul University. He participated in cinema workshops in Mesopotamia Culture Center and Nazım Culture House between 1996-2000. Since 1997 he has been working as assistant director and production manager on a variety of productions. He directed short fiction and documentaries. His feature debut, Autumn, won awards at Locarno,  Batumi, Sofia, Ankara IFF, Yerevan etc.

Synopsis

Sumru, an ethnomusicology student from Istanbul, is traveling the Turkish countryside collecting folk elegies for her thesis. Seeking out survivors of the anti-Kurdish violence that has plagued the country in recent decades, she records their testimonies—some spoken, some sung—with patience and deep empathy. Along the way she meets Ahmet, the local head of an improvised cinematheque who shares her interests and, smitten with this pretty stranger, helps her in her search. But the results of the quest, far from leading her back to Istanbul, instead propel her on toward Hakkari, the mountainous hometown of her former boyfriend whose mysterious disappearance she can’t forget.

Salome Jashi is a documentary filmmaker based in Georgia. She was born in Soviet Union (1981) and grew up during struggle for Georgia’s independence followed by civil wars. After Graduating from Tbilisi State University in 2002 and Caucasus School of Journalism and Media Management in 2003, Salome Jashi worked for Georgian Broadcasting Company Rustavi 2 as a journalist. She later completed an MA in Documentary by Practice, department of Media Arts at Royal Holloway, University of London.

She was invited as a member of jury at Norwegian Short Film Festival, 2007, and Lessinia International Film Festival, Italy, 2009, and her short documentary Their Helicopter toured international film festival and received four awards. In 2009 she was a participant at Doc Station of the Berlinale Talent Campus and Ex Oriente Film Workshop with her documentary film project Restaurant Bakhmaro and Those Who Work There. The film was finished in 2011 and was premiered at “Silverdocs” film festival in USA. Salome is a founder of production company Sakdoc Film.

Synopsis

A journey into a lively but rotting building in a provincial Georgian town. It once used to be a hotel called ‘Bakhmaro’. At the center of the building is a restaurant whose walls are covered with bright green and orange plastic foam and where tables are set, waiting for customers – who rarely come. A Chinese shop, a slot machines and a political party office can also be found here. The building is a microcosm intruded by the constant anticipation of change. It is a model of this troubled country with its endless demonstrations and opposition rallies. On the backdrop of political events, somehow, all of life is here.

Born in 1969, Mani Haghighi studied  Philosophy for several years before making his first feature, Abadan, in 2003. His second feature, Men at Work (2006) made with a handicam on a shoestring budget, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and won him several prestigious international prizes. He has also written a few screenplays for other Iranian directors, including Fireworks Wednesday (Asghar Farhadi, 2006, and  acted in the Berlinale Silver Bear winner About Elly (Asghar Farhadi, 2009) as well as in Iranian veteran filmmaker, Dariush Mehrjui’s  Mahboub’s Sky (2010). Modest Reception is his fourth feature film.

Jenya Gorin born March 13, 1965 in Kaluga, Russia. After graduating from high school he went travelling around the world. In some cities he established cultural and philosophical communities. Gorin attended film directing classes in Moscow’s famous VGIK and classes on psychoanalysis in Berlin University as an auditor. In recent years he’s been giving classes on phycology and psychoanalysis in universities around the world. Gorin is an ideologist and a producer of various bands (Pinball, The Postman of Nobel, Tadzio). Film “40000 minutes in red” was his directorial debut. Currently he is working on feature film “Dreams of a guitar teacher”, dedicated to widely famous guitar players

Ken Loach (b. 1936, Nuneaton, UK) studied law, had a short stint in the theater, and was hired by the BBC in 1963 as an assistant director. He grabbed the limelight with the TV play Cathy Come Home (1966) and with his first two features, Poor Cow (1967) and Kes (winner of the Crystal Globe at the 1970 KVIFF). Loach spent the next two decades working in TV and making commercially unsuccessful pictures. Synopsis

A bittersweet comedy about a Glasgow boy locked in a family feud who just wants a way out. After 1984's Őszi almanach (Almanac of Fall), Tarr (who had written his first four features alone) began collaborating with Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai for 1988's Kárhozat(Damnation). The 415-minute adaptation of Krasznahorkai's epic novel Sátántangó finally appeared to international acclaim in 1994. Born 22 November, 1960. French-born film director, critic, and writer. Carax is noted for his poetic style and his tortured depictions of love. His first major work was Boy Meets Girl (1984). His professional name is an anagram of his first and middle names.

He began his film career with a series of short films, and as a film critic, before he released Boy Meets Girl (1984). That piece established Carax's reputation for a mature visual style. It also saw the first grouping of Carax with Denis Lavant and cinematographer Jean-Yves Escoffier. He followed the piece with the science fiction themed Bad Blood in 1986, which alienated some of his audience, but the work continued to explore the complexities of love in the modern world, this time through a darker, more criminal viewpoint. He graduated from the Directing Department of the All-Union State Cinematography Institute in Moscow (VGIK, master class of S. Yutkevitch, S. Skvortsova), in 1958. Worked at Mosfilm Studio, starting from 1960 was a director at Georgia Film Studio. Ran a Directing Master Class at the Tbilisi Theatre Institute after Rustaveli (1975-1980). He was the First Secretary of Filmmakers’ Union of Georgia (1979 - 1990), since 1990 - the Chairman of the same Union. In 1992, he was elected a member of the Parliament of Georgia. A member of the Jury at Venice IFF in 1986 and at Berlin IFF in 1992.

Nuri Bilge Ceylan was born in Istanbul, 1959. After graduating from Engineering Department of Bosporus University, he studied Film Making for two years at Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul. Ceylan’s short film Koza (Cocoon) was screened in the Cannes Film Festival in 1995. He received many awards with his debut feature Kasaba (Small Town) and his second feature Mayis Sikintisi (Clouds of May). His third feature Uzak (Distant) received the Grand Prix and award for Best Actor at Cannes 2003, and was praised internationally. His 2006 film Iklimler (Climates) won the FIPRESCI Award at Cannes in 2006 and received international prize by critics and experts. Dariush Mehrjui was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1939. As an adult, he moved to the United States and entered the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Department of Cinema. He switched his major to philosophy and graduated from UCLA in 1964. His second featured film, Cow (1969), brought him national and international recognition. In 1971, the film was smuggled out of Iran and submitted to the Venice IFF, where, without programming or subtitles, it became the largest event of that year's festival. The film was a turning point in the history of Iranian cinema. In 1973 Mehrjui began directing what was to be his most acclaimed film “The Cycle”. The film won the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin IFF in 1978.

In 1981, he traveled to Paris and remained there for several years, during which time he made a feature-length semi-documentary for French TV. In film “Hamoun” (1989), Mehrjui sought to depict his generation's post-revolutionary turn from politics to mysticism. The '90s also found Mehrjui releasing films dealing with women's issues. Leila (1996) was all Mehrjui's own and the first to receive any sort of wide theatrical release in the West. His last films include Santoori (2007), Tehran, Tehran (2010).

Alicia Cano born in Uruguay, 1982. After earning an undergraduate degree in Media Studies, she travelled to Italy in 2006 to complete a Master’s degree in documentary cinema. A former academic with a Ph.D in political philosophy from Harvard, he gave up his university career in 2003 to become full-time documentary filmmakerspecializing in human rights subjects. His first film was “Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan” in 2004. “Back to the Square” his latest documentary is set in Egypt and examines the lives of five characters after the revolution.

Aleksey Igudesman (Petersburg) gained a name primarily as a violinist and conductor, but also as an occasional actor and filmmaker. At age twelve he was accepted to the Yehudi Menuhin School and later he studied at the Vienna Conservatory. He has recorded with the foremost classical music ensembles, and has also worked with actor Roger Moore and with film music composer Hans Zimmer on the soundtrack for Sherlock Holmes, among others. He and pianist Hyung-kiJoo, performing as “A Little Nightmare Music,” bring together classical music and comedy performance, and their act went viral on the internet. Igudesman not only directed and produced Noseland, but he acts in it as well.

Fernand Melgar (born 1961, Tangier, Morocco). A Swiss actor, producer, director and film editor. The son of Spanish immigrants, Melgar has lived in Lausanne since 1963. In the early eighties, he cut short his business studies in order to found, together with several friends, Le Cabaret Orwell in Lausanne, soon a mecca for French-speaking Switzerland’s underground culture; later, he created the internationally renowned rock music venue La dolce Vita. Film about the director’s mother who comes to Abkhazia to erect a monument on the nearly abandoned grave of her Georgian father. Her half-brother and sister are forbidden to enter the country as they left it as refugees after the war of 1992-1993 between Georgia and Abkhaziya, when 250.000 (more than 60% of population) of Georgians (by blood) had to left their motherland.

Graduated VGIK, documentary worshop of Sergey Mirhosnichenko in 2008. From 2006 – creative director of advertising agency “Laboratory for Social Advertising”, where he has received more than 40 awards for PSAs. From 2008 – programmer, coordinator of documentary sections «Free thought» within Moscow International Film Festival. Participated in several international workshops and pitchings, including Berlinale Talent Campus, Baltic Sea forum etc.

Biography

Ivan Livaković (1982) has received a BA in film and television directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, where he currently pursues his MA studies in film directing. He has directed 7 award-winning shorts including Harakiri Children, The Fucking Game and most recentlyPandemic, as well as 3 documentaries, several promotional films and one television play

Synopsis

Life imitates bad television. Set in a nebulous space between reality and illusion, using a universal story of love, lust, betrayal and obsession, and deconstructing various genres, this film shows the theatrical identity of people and visual phenomena in a society in transition.

BIOGRAPHY

Barbara Vekarić (1987) graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art (film and tv directing) in 2010. She is currently in the second year of her ma in feature film at the Academy of Dramatic Art. Vekarić is a co-founder of the film organization Motion. She attended the 2011 Berlinale Talent Campus and goEast Young Professionals 2011. She has directed a number of short films, including Adieu, N, Nina, Please and dj Grandpa.

SYNOPSIS
Amra is a girl from da hood, the whole block knows her name, she’s rocking some porno rap, but looking like a dame... Dina is her younger fat sister, a spoiled brat, born to torture her.  Amra and her ‘manager’ plan to shoot a music video for Amra’s song ‘Girl From da Hood’, on the same day her parents are travelling to Bosnia, and Amra gets stuck with her kid sister Dina.

BIOGRAPHY

Juraj Lerotić (1978) was born in Kiel, Germany. In 2001 he graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zadar with a major in preschool education. Currently, he is a senior undergraduate of film and tv directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb.

SYNOPSIS
Željko (16) and his younger brother have been living on their own since their mother ended up in hospital. Željko has his mind set on two things: to finally take the initiative to meet Tanja and to earn some money to buy his Mum a wig. A real one, made from human hair. If he achieves these two goals, then things might take a turn for the better. The film Then I See Tanja is a coming-of-age story constructed almost entirely from still photographs.

BIOGRAPHY

Marko Meštrović born in Stuttgart in 1972. In 1997 he graduated painting at The Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in the class of prof. Seder. He has held numerous group and solo exhibitions. Since 2000 he is active in animation. In  2008 he made his solo film project ''Notes'' and ''No Sleep Won’t Kill You''. The films were shown at many domestic and international festivals and received many awards.

Simple questions do not always get simple answers.

SYNOPSIS

A man returns home after a long absence. He gets off the train in a grey port city.  He crosses the town in search of places of times gone by, now in decline, staining to uphold their former ancient glory.

In a modest apartment in the Ghetto of the old quarter, waiting for him for years is a cold dinner and his life companion. Mary and Enzo have been waiting and wanting each other since they first met behind bars, when they send each other silent messages, recorded in hidden tapes.

The dream is a small house in the countryside overlooking the city and the sea, far from the pressures of present times, suspended in another time of never ending happiness. Now and again they divide their furtive destiny with their companions in the labyrinth of Croce Bianca, via Pré… ancient names in a place untouched by modern age where the twentieth century has run aground like a ship without an anchor.

SYNOPSIS

Film wishes to portray a memory: one of the work of Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Peleshyan. A memory of his films and of their creation, a memory of cinema and of its relation with mankind, with its life, its mind, its emotions and with the unceasing, endless paths that intertwine one with the other.

Artavazd Peleshyan remained unknown to the West until 1983, when French cinema critic Serge Daney succeeded in approaching him and, together with a few others who were familiar with his cinema, brought attention to his work in Europe. According to Daney, «Peleshyan aims at capturing the ‘emotional and social cardiography of his time’».

The portrait of Peleshyan is built in the form of a “distance montage” too – an experimental hyperbole, a full and intense materialization of an interior montage, resulting in an inspired and lyrical vision of Peleshyan’s world following two major lines:

- The story unfolds from the meeting with Peleshyan in Moscow, when this hard to capture and intense man is filmed.

- Footage from Peleshyan’s works and other unseen material was retrieved and used, capturing some exceptional moments in the filmmaker’s life and almost composing a cinematographic space of its own, dotted with excerpts from Peleshyan’s works .

The film also brings back to light impressive and unseen archival footage about the life of the Armenian director, including scenes shot while he was making his films and when he graduated at VGIK, the renowned Pan-Russian Cinematographic Institute of Moscow, sitting in front of a board of examiners composed of directors such as Shukshin and Medvedkin.
