BIAFF 2024  Batumi Film Festival Awards

XIX Batumi International Art-house Film Festival was held in Batumi during 27 September – 3 October. Festival showed 30 Full length and 25 Short films from around 30 countries

On 3 October, at Batumi Puppet Theatre it was held closing ceremony of BIAFF Film festival, where international Jury announced the following prizes:

BIAFF  International Feature Films Competition section  - consisting of five members –  Gela Babluani, head of Jury (Georgia), Katarzyna Klimkiewicz, (Poland), Nicos Panayotopoulos, (Greece), Andrzej Slowicki, (Germany), Tinatin Kajrishvili, (Georgia),  awarded the following prizes:

• Best Film –  “Panopticon”, by George Sikharulidze, Georgia/France/Italy/Romania, 2024
• Best Film Director – Matthias Glasner for film “Dying”, Germany, 2024
• Best Actress – Salome Demuria in film “Antique” by Rusudan Glurjidze, Georgia/Finland/Switzerland/ Germany, 2024
• Best Actor – Gustaf Hammarsten in film „Together 99“ by Lukas Moodysson, Sweden/Denmark, 2023
• Jury Special Mention – to Data Chachua in film “Panopticon”, by George Sikharulidze, Georgia/France/Italy/Romania, 2024

BIAFF 2024 Short Film competition section’s Jury – headed by Krzystof Gierat (Poland), Ringaile Lescinskiene (Lietuva), George Ovashvili, (Georgia)  awarded the following prizes:

• The Best Short film – “Aldi” by Giorgi Arabuli, Georgia, 2024
• Jury Special Mention – “Be Somebody”, Michal Toczek, Poland, 2024  &   “Shalal” Amir Ali Sisipour, Iran, 2024

BIAFF 2024 Life time Achievement award for contribution to cinema was granted to:

• Gia Burjanadze (Georgia)
